Welcome to My New Vegan life!

Hi my name is Candy I am 51, and In May 2011 I started having really bad back and groin pain. I just thought that I had pulled my groin muscle after going to St. Maarten for my nieces destination wedding. Where we were staying had steep hills and I was walking in high heals which I am not used to doing. After a while it got worse to the point I couldn’t sit down, couldn’t stand up and the pain was so bad that I just wanted to cry. Regular pain meds just didn’t cut it. So, I went to my Dr. and he ordered a CAT scan thinking it may be my kidneys. Long story short after months and a CAT scan, MRI and X-rays and lots of 600mg ibuprofen and my Dr. not even taking the time to get back to me with my results, I decided to make an appointment with a chiropractor who also is a Holistic Dr., after a few sessions with her I was feeling so much better. She even looked at all my results from all of my test. She actually cared! I told her that I was trying to eat vegetarian and was flirting with becoming a vegan. I was also doing a half hour of yoga in the morning. She thought that was great and that a lot of my problem was my digestive system which affected my whole body when it was off. Also the Yoga was the icing on the cake!
So I challenged myself to try to eat a vegan diet. I have really enjoyed the diet but have found it very hard to find the food that I need close by. My husband has been very supportive but has no interest in becoming vegan at this time. Even though I have tricked him a few times in thinking he was eating ground beef. I did tell him afterwards. lol My daughter Liz has helped me quit a bit she is not vegetarian or vegan but loves to eat healthy and loves vegan food. She lives near Candle Cafe and Candle 79 in NYC.  So we eat there when I am visiting. If you go to NYC you have to go there it is amazing. My taste-buds are alive again! Also, Liz has a great all natural grocery store near her called Fairway. I stock up on all the things I need when I visit. I love NYC so it is always a good excuse to visit. Along with seeing my baby girl! (She is my youngest of 4 children).
So my hopes with this blog is to share my findings with you. So here's to my New Vegan Life!
